Analogue Meme Maker©

Booi Kluiving

Theatre-maker Booi Kluiving will be showing the Analogue Meme Maker© here throughout the month of January. In this installation Booi explores the meaning of internet memes:

“I have been confronted with memes every day since high school. When I started focusing on internet culture in my performances, I started seeing it more and more as a unique visual language. Memes are actually community art: you build on someone els idea, within certain codes you create something new. The community decides what the best ideas are – those memes then go viral.’’

During The Bluest Monday festival, held from January 13 to 21st, Booi Kluiving invites you to make analogue memes yourself. The artist is often present and helps you create your own meme. All memes can be seen here.
