Exhibition ‘BLue, Collectie van Velzen’

At the Denim City Store you can see 2 objects of Anoushka van Velzen, human figueres which each have their own character made with the key ingredient denim, residual material of the Denim City Amsterdam Store.

Anoushka van Velzen (1966) is a visual artist who brings her fascination for rituals, her own collected parafernalia and love for an imaginary, self created, world together in the Collection van Velzen.

Collection van Velzen is originated from a wish to summarise her objects. In this Collection you see her personal Wunderkammer, for example small sculptured figures decorated with inspiring items which she collected during her whole life. The Barbies which she use as a base for these objects are still recognizable despite the decapitation, so that everyone is able to identify in a personal way with these objects.
Collection van Velzen combines the skills created during her education at the fashion academy, art school and her inexhaustible interest for detail.
