Piet Paris 35 jaar mode-illustrator

“Fashion should splash off my work”
From Friday 8 September to 15 October 2023, during the international fashion month, we will celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Netherlands’ most famous fashion illustrator Piet Paris with a new solo exhibition. Especially for this show, new unique works will be shown as well as the original drawings that he made earlier this year for his exhibition in Museum JAN.
Pieter ’t Hoen (The Hague, 1962) alias Piet Paris will be working worldwide for exactly 35 years this fall as a fashion illustrator for magazines, well-known fashion houses and commercial clients. He was artistic director of the Arnhem Mode Biennale three times and creative director of Harper’s Bazaar Netherlands. In 2008 he won the Grand Seigneur fashion award. In that year he also made illustrations, displays and shop windows for the American department store Saks Fifth Avenue. He still teaches drawing to fashion students at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. He donated his oeuvre to the Gelders Archive in 2018.
As a master of omission, Paris is constantly looking for even more simplicity. The search for form, proportions, composition, dynamics, fashion…. This results in compositions full of beauty, intellect and often humour, which capture the essence of a design or fashion trend in a few lines.
Dreaming of a true masterpiece of Mr. Dutch Illustration on your wall? This unique sales exhibition gives you the chance to realize this.
