Linnaeuskoor – Het land van mijn Kinderdromen

Our choir has been in existence for thirty years. We sing classical music and folk music from all over the world, but also from the works of Dutch poets from Bilderdijk to Kopland and from Vasalis to Hanny Michaelis. The texts are composed by our conductor Jan-Paul van Spaendonck. Our greatest success to date is Linnaeus, a botanical cantata, in which we sing the biography of our namesake in thirteen episodes. Our cantata has already been heard in the Hortus Botanicus of Amsterdam, Utrecht and Leiden and in the greenhouses of the Botanical Garden Zuidas.

On February 26 we will sing a coffee concert in the library titled The Land of My Childhood Dreams, texts by Joseph von Eichendorff (1788 – 1857) set to music by Felix Mendelssohn, Robert Schumann, Jan-Paul van Spaendonck and others.

The second part of the program takes us back to the early 2000s, when our choir was introduced to Jan-Paul van Spaendonck who has been conducting us for twenty years and who introduced us to Italian song art, from Lassus to Monteverdi.

Jan-Paul van Spaendonck leads our choir and Vaughan Schlepp accompanies us on the piano.
