The Swap Festival

Don’t shop…. swap! Come to our playful recycle-market for all ages!

Bring items you don’t use anymore (but are still in very good condition) and swap them for something else fabulous! Several Oud-West local residents and organizations who are working on sustainability are joining forces and have organized the second Big Circular Swap Festival at de Hallen. Anyone – big or small- can swap at the market, join a fun workshop, have broken clothes or electric devices repaired, have their face painted, enjoy the live music or get some useful info on living more sustainable. And of course, have a fun day together!

At the swap market you can swap goods within the following categories:

Books, clothing, toys, interior items, plants, seeds & cuttings, energy saving and insulation materials. Bring items within these categories and swap them for another within the same category. Books for books, clothes for clothes, etcetera.

You can join free workshops, such as:

  • T-shirts refresh (ReUp Salon)
  • Learn how to make kombucha in 5 minutes
  • Make key rings from bicycle material (Recycle)
  • Learn to make bags (Huis van de Toekomst WG Terrein)
  • Making terrariums (Zimmerhoeve)
  • Decorating biscuits with edible flowers ( De Gouden Vijver)

So drop by and have a fun, sustainable day, meet some new people and go home with something nice!

But that’s not all – it’s finally time to fix that broken kettle, that cute blouse or your favourite lamp! Bring them along to the Repair Festival in De Hallen Studio’s. Learn how to breathe new life into your belongings with the help of 25 skilled repairers from different Repair Cafés in Amsterdam-West. From visible mending to basic sewing techniques, unleash your creativity and give your items a new lease of life!
