Exhibtion What connects

Jannemiek Tukker’s {artworks have been in the Beeldend Gesproken collection for over 10 years. Since early in her career, her work has been a meditative exercise in which the subject evokes reflection at a physical and mental level. She portrays the dichotomy between daily confusion, fear and inner confrontation; and mystery, internalization, meditation, letting go and spiritual light.

Jannemiek: “My work is a complete spiritual alchemy which can transform common metal into silver and gold, and gloom and sorrow into joy and happiness.”

This year Jannemiek invited her two sisters, also artists, to exhibit together in the Beeldend Gesproken gallery, in an exhibition on what remains, what lapses and what connects.

The starting point for the exhibition ‘What connects’ is a first selection of the works by the three sisters, made by their brother Henk. Henk is a curious world traveler, just like their father, whose work took him to travel extensively through Asia and Africa. He now lives in Mozambique. His last visit was an encounter between the four of them, an encounter of four adults in which patterns and roles of the past had little meaning. It was a visit in which they rediscovered each other and in which they shared the lives in their ‘islands’, as the years went by. Their lives as they are now.

The opening will take place digitally on May 8 at 12 noon, with the Tukker sisters being interviewed by Berthold Gersons.
