Exhibition ‘Myself and I’
13 double portraits of young people and their world
In these portraits of young people between the ages of 14 and 18 I first searched for an image that captures the real person. In the studio, without makeup, wearing a neutral white shirt, their wet hair combed backwards. For the second image I asked them to present themselves in their favourite space. I gave them complete control. The combination of the two images surprises. Sometimes it seams as if you’re looking at two different people.
Hester van de Belt (1971) has been a portrait photographer for over 20 years, portraying mostly children and young people. She attended the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam.
Myself and I can be seen from the 28th of January until the 28th of February at the Passage of De Hallen and in Studio Hester located in the Little Passage.
