Exhibition ‘On the way’

This month the exhibition ‘On the way’ by Robert Jan Stokman can be seen in the Passage of De Hallen.

After studying photographic design at the HKU, Robert Jan Stokman worked as a freelance portrait and reportage photographer. In 2014 Robert Jan Stokman suffered a severe burnout and depression. During his train rides to and from his therapy, the photo series ‘on the road’ was created. , in which he was able to express his view on the world .The work is sometimes cold or anonymous, but sometimes also almost magical.

“It started with some experiments on my IPhone while traveling by train. Soon I noticed that I could really express myself with this small camera. These images originate from a difficult period in my life and this way of creating images has helped me to shape it. I can work fast and intuitively with this device and use it as a sketchpad, showing how I experience the world around me.”
