What are the opening hours of De Hallen?

De Hallen Amsterdam is open daily from 07:00 to 01:00. Please note: individual opening hours of shops, restaurants and studios may vary. To do this, check the opening hours per location on the In De Hallen page.

How do I get to De Hallen?

On the Visit page, you will find all information about accessibility by public transport, bicycle or car. De Hallen is located in Amsterdam-West, within walking distance of Kinkerstraat and Bilderdijkkade.

Where can I park my bicycle?

You will find access to the bicycle parking facility at the entrance to the car park on Bellamyplein and at the entrance to the library (OBA/Belcampo). Scooters and cargo bikes can only use the entrance at the car park.

Please note: bicycles may not be parked in De Passage or against the facades – this rule is strictly enforced.

The parking facility is owned by the Municipality of Amsterdam. Although there is camera surveillance, it is still wise to lock your bicycle securely and not leave any valuables behind.

Is there a car park?

There is a municipal car park beneath De Hallen. Entrance via Bellamyplein.
Open from 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. Payment by debit or credit card. Lift available. Disabled parking available.

Is De Hallen wheelchair accessible?

Yes, all public areas are wheelchair accessible. There are adapted entrances and facilities.

Where do I find the toilets?

There are toilets at the Foodhallen/Kanarie Club and in the OBA Library.

Is Wi-Fi available?

There is no public WIFI in De Hallen, but in some locations such as the OBA library and the Foodhallen.

Are pets allowed in De Hallen?

Pets are welcome in the public passage of De Hallen, provided they are kept on a leash. Please be aware of other visitors.

Where can I eat or drink?

There is plenty of choice: from street food in the Foodhallen to coffee at Café Belcampo, cocktails at Kanarie Club and lunch at Hotel De Hallen. Find out more here

Can I pay with PIN at all entrepreneurs?

Yes, almost all entrepreneurs allow you to pay with a PIN.

Are there lockers or a cloakroom?

No, there are no lockers or a central cloakroom in De Hallen. Keep this in mind if you come with large bags or items.

Culture & Events

What is there to do in De Hallen?

De Hallen is a vibrant center for culture, food, craft and design. It includes the Filmhallen, the Foodhallen, Hotel De Hallen, shops, galleries, markets and the OBA public library and more! You can read about all the organisations here. Activities are regularly organized in De Passage. Check out our agenda for all upcoming events.

What events are being organized?

From markets and exhibitions to performances, book launches and workshops. Check the agenda or subscribe to the newsletter to stay up to date.

Are there any performances or live music in De Hallen?

Yes, regularly! Think of live music, spoken word in Hal West or dance at De Passage or performances in Café Belcampo or the OBA. Check out the agenda for the current programme.

Are exhibitions held in De Hallen?

Yes, there is regularly a changing exhibition in De Passage. In addition, there are permanent galleries, such as Beeldend Gesproken (art by professional artists with a mental vulnerability) and I Love Illustration Gallery (with work by Piet Paris, among others).

Are there activities for children?

Every Wednesday afternoon, there are creative children's activities such as crafts or a puppet show. Café Belcampo has a play corner for the little ones. Check out the families page and/or sign up for the Kids newsletter so as not to miss anything.

Can I organize an event in De Hallen myself?

Yes. There are various spaces available for hire within De Hallen, including through De Hallen Studio’s and other businesses in the building. These locations operate independently and each have their own possibilities and conditions. Please visit the Room Rental page for more information and contact the relevant venue directly.

For public events in De Passage (the central hall), you can contact us via info@dehallen-amsterdam.nl. Please note: only publicly accessible events (no ticketed events) can take place here.

As a maker or artist, can I program something myself in De Hallen?

Yes, you can. Many locations within De Hallen, such as Hal West, Beeldend Gesproken, De Hallen Studio’s, Kanarie Club and other spaces, are independently managed. If you have an idea for an exhibition, performance, workshop or other programme, please contact the relevant venue directly to explore the possibilities. Would you like to organise something in De Passage (the central hall)? The programming of this public space is coordinated by Stichting TROM. You can send your proposal (including a short description and any visual material) to info@dehallen-amsterdam.nl. Please note that events in De Passage must always be free to attend and should not block the flow of visitors.

Can I organize or participate in a market?

Do you have your own market concept? De Passage (the central hall) is available for hire for markets and other public events. Send your proposal (including name, concept, website and/or social media) to info@dehallen-amsterdam.nl, and we’ll explore the possibilities together.

Are there guided tours?

Practical

Can I photograph or film in De Hallen?

Yes, for personal use, feel free to take photos — great if you tag us on Instagram! Prior permission is required for professional or commercial photography or filming. Contact us via info@dehallen-amsterdam.nl.

Is there a lost object function? /I lost something, what now?

There is no general “found items” feature in De Hallen. Contact the location within De Hallen where you lost something or contact the building management.
