Samen Geschiedenis Schrijven

CAFÉ BELCAMPO 20:00 until 22:00 Friday 13 June 2025

On June 13, you are warmly invited to an evening of theatre where Schrijven naar de Toekomst explores the value of preserving. “What do we consider worth recording for the future?” They invite you to come listen, watch, meet, and join the conversation.

Through letters and theatre, you’ll dive into Amsterdam’s history by asking: how do we write history ourselves? How do we make sure history belongs to everyone, and not just to a dominant group? How can we involve the whole of society and all the voices within it?

Mirjam Schaap, archivist at the City Archives, will be one of our guests. There will also be letter writers reading and sharing their stories. And hopefully, you’ll be there too, dear resident (or visitor!) of Amsterdam.

Schrijven naar de Toekomst collects stories from all people in society. They work with individuals of all backgrounds, ages, and life situations — from people experiencing homelessness to the newly wealthy, from young to old, from practiced storytellers to those who rarely write or don’t speak the language well. Expect an inspiring evening that will make you think.
