Presentation ‘Women of Amsterdam – an ode’ on display at De Hallen Amsterdam

March 8 – March 29, 2025 | De Passage, De Hallen Amsterdam

Amsterdam would be a completely different city without women. From inspiring artists to influential entrepreneurs, from tireless activists to dedicated key figures in local communities – women have left their mark on the city throughout the centuries. Yet, women have often remained underrepresented in history. The project Women of Amsterdam – an ode by the Amsterdam Museum aims to change this by collecting and showcasing women’s stories.

In honor of International Women’s Day, Women of Amsterdam – an ode will present ten portraits throughout March in De Passage of De Hallen Amsterdam, highlighting women who have already been honored, including Aletta Jacobs, Sylvana Simons, Aïcha Bergamin, and Maybeline Akua. These portraits are part of the broader exhibition Women of Amsterdam – an ode, currently on view at the Amsterdam Museum (Amstel 51). The presentation at De Hallen offers visitors an accessible way to discover these inspiring stories in a public space.
