Green Is Golden organizes the first edition of the “Natural Wine Festival A’dam”: a wine-tasting event with 10+ winemakers from all over Europe and more than 100 wines to taste. But also expect wine workshops on terroir, wine master classes, and several ‘winemakers dinners’ in the city of Amsterdam. The goal: Making natural wine accessible by going beyond the hype. Natural wines are trending. They are featured nowadays by every self-respecting restaurant on the menu. Beyond the hype there’s a deeper story.
Winemaking (like all agriculture) industrialized in the mid-20th century and became dependent on fertilizers, pesticides, machine processing, the addition of yeasts, sulfites, and an array of other substances in the service of production growth and consistency in flavor.
By the late 1970s, some winemakers realized that this kind of farming was literally not healthy, not sustainable. These “rebels” realized they needed to create biodiverse ecosystems in their vineyards. They started working biodynamically or organically and sought to create wines that reflected the terroir, wines in which the fruit of the grape defines the wine. Natural Wine Festival A’dam presents a large selection of exactly these kinds of wines as well as winemakers as well as several workshops to take its’ visitors deeper into the experience.

Green Is Golden takes over Denim City for one day for its first edition and is hosted by House Of Denim Foundation.
