Exhibition ‘Mental Health Art Tour’

On Thursday, May 25th, during the Mental Health Week, the exhibition ‘Mental Health Art Tour’ will be launched at Galerie Beeldend Gesproken in De Hallen Amsterdam. The exhibition focuses on the life stories of, among others, Isa Hoes, Dylan Haegens, Thomas Dekker, and Mohamedou Ould Slahi. Their life stories, captured in vibrant artworks by Dutch artist Irene Hoff, highlight their personal experiences with significant life events and how they cope with them. By sharing their stories, they hope to inspire others to be open about mental health and encourage dialogue.

The initiative is by Tamara Swart, who aims to break taboos and increase awareness of mental health through art and health programs. “The focus is often on staying physically healthy, but a fit mind is just as important. That conversation should be able to be held openly with each other, without fear of prejudice or stigma,” says Swart. With each artwork, visitors can listen to the corresponding personal story. These stories offer a range of insights and suggestions, each with a specific message to society and to the visitor.

In collaboration with Alles is Gezondheid, De Hallen, Galerie Beeldend Gesproken, and The Models Health Pledge, the Mental Health Art Tour is organizing a special meeting to open the exhibition and discuss this topic from various perspectives.

The exhibition can be seen until they end of June at Beeldend Gesproken and the Passage of De Hallen. For more information, visit www.mentalhealtharttour.nl.
