Exhibition ‘Buurtdelers’

Every day many children in the neighborhood of Oud West go to their classes at the Huygens College (VMBO). A stone’s throw away, in residential care center De Klinker, elderly come together for their daytime activities. Two different worlds that normally never meet but are brought together during this project.

Ten forth grade Media, Design & ICT students (+/- 16 years old) and ten elderly were linked up and met each other during an afternoon at the Klinker. There, the students interviewed the elderly about their interests and hobbies after which the students made a portrait in a mobile studio.

The students got the assignment to use different elements from the interview in the portraits. In the media classroom of the Huygens College the students did research on the work of different designers and learned how to use image editing software.
