Exhibition ‘Breath’

The installation ‘Breath’ by Maura Biava can be seen at the Smallest Gallery.

The unreal light, the silence, the fact that no people live there – like another universe for Biava, the underwater world forms the canvas for her ideas. Again and again it makes you look with different eyes.

Because despite its esoteric and sometimes romantic character, the work also contains a form of social criticism. Let yourself be carried away in the bubble of Biava, with its own language and laws, for the much-needed oxygen in this time in which clean air and (artistic) breathing space are more topical than ever.

Artist Maura Biava has become internationally known for her poetic pioneering work in underwater photography. Her work has been shown in numerous international exhibitions and is included in the collection of the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Stedelijk Museum De Domijnen in Sittard, Akzo Nobel Art Foundation, Amsterdam and De Nederlandsche Bank in Amsterdam.
