Carly E & The Outstanding + Malembe Trio

Carly E (Carlijn van Wijk) has been playing cello and singing since she was young. When she moved to London and Argentina, she said goodbye to her classical music career and became a solo artist. Already she has managed to conquer many stages with her cello popsongs, such as the DeLaMar Theater and TedX.

During “Through the Winter Bubble,” she will perform songs from her album Timeless Thoughts and new songs with her trio Carly E & The Outstanding, consisting of drummer Efraim Schulz-Wackerbarth and this time guitarist Marc van Hout. Her music is reminiscent of Carol Emerald and Andrew Bird: Folk pop music with original lyrics and a subtle groove.

Malembe trio: Through the winter bubble
Our musical concept is based on the Afro-Latin influences in our musical culture. We play music from all Latin American countries such as Colombia, Mexico, Brazil, Perú, Cuba, etc. and our performance becomes a real carnival of familiar melodies that takes our audience on a musical journey.

Malembe Trio are:
Federico Olivares Hurtado from Chile, Guitar, synth and vocals
Derrick de Getrowe from Suriname, Acoustic Bass and vocals
Enrique Firpi, Drums

THROUGH THE WINTER BUBBLE
Stichting Hallo-Buren/ 50-50podium is organizing two musical evenings together with Mermaid Radio, Carly E and Malembe Trio. The concerts will take place in the beautiful Café Belcampo in the Hallen in Amsterdam. These evenings are conceived as part of a package consisting of an introduction, a live and online concert ending with a talk. Afterwards one can enjoy a drink at the bar!

The theme of the post-concert conversation is the insights gained from the gas crisis this winter. People will be paired with someone they don’t know for 15 minutes after the concert and given targeted questions to answer with each other. This allows everyone to share their experience.

In this way, we would like to help people “find each other again” in our neighborhood!
The proceeds of this evening will be shared on Hallo-Buren website and Facebook page.
