Or how to have difficult conversations.

Join a dialogue on how to talk about uncomfortable topics with those around you.

In a time when the world—and the neighborhood you live in—are constantly changing, it’s not always easy to discuss topics you may disagree on.

Do my neighbors greet me? Do I talk to all of them, even the one I think I don’t see eye-to-eye with? The neighbor who is much older than I am, who believes in a different god, or who isn’t vegan like me? Can I manage a conversation about more than just the weather?

Is the sense of care for each other in my neighborhood declining? Are we, as neighbors, avoiding uncomfortable topics? Living together means sometimes having hard conversations—especially when we don’t agree.

The evening begins with a theatrical performance featuring two actors, Wilma van Tuyl and Loes Wouterson (van De Vloer op voor de Verandering), who will act out a difficult conversation. The audience is invited to share helpful tips.

Afterward, we’ll sit at dialogue tables to explore the topics we find uncomfortable and what it takes to have challenging conversations.
