Atlantis – exhibition at the smallest gallery

Atlantis, a dress made of maps and lace floats in the smallest galley in De Hallen.
The soft sculpture is shaped to symbolise what is human, the stories of conflicting desire, the desire to feel safe, and how it feels to live in a place different to where you were born.
Mieke de Waal uses diverse materials in her work. She studied cultural anthropology and attended the Art Academy in Utrecht. One of her works, the Last Medine Man, has been acquired by the municipality and is now on show at the AMC Hospital.
