Filmhallen may be the newest movie theatre in Amsterdam, but as a sister theatre to The Movies on Haarlemmerdijk, it has an intimate relationship with Amsterdam’s oldest movie theatre and shares its passion for outstanding films and a unique viewing experience.

Starting in September 2014, Filmhallen will begin showing films in its nine beautiful screening rooms. It will screen the best films from Hollywood and a large selection of award-winning international and independent films.

The selection at Filmhallen will gater not only to the movie buff, but also to children and families. On a regular basis, Filmhallen will host special events and film festivals that are open to the public.

Along with the selection of films, it is the theatre’s ambience that makes Filmhallen exceptional.

Screening room seven of the Filmhallen is being furnished with the historic art deco interior of the Parisien Room, which was originally part of Filmmuseum-Vondelpark. The Parisien Room was first built for Cinema Parisien, one of the oldest movie theatres in Amsterdam, located at the Nieuwendijk from 1910 to 1956. In 2014, the Parisien Room will proudly take its place as Filmhallen’s most exquisite screening room.

Filmhallen is an initiative of Kadir Selçuk and Alex Rutten, the owners of The Movies at Haarlemmerdijk. For more information contact us at
